Orphans in Gambia

We have all been affected by this pandemic, however most of us have not suffered as much as Mansour Gillen and his siblings have. The family went 3 days without eating until they reached out to us in the UK at which point we were able to help them see through the next few days.

They recently lost their parents to the Coronavirus. This forced all the children to
drop out of their education to search for food, water and money for rent full time:
just to survive.

Kumba, 16, was able to return to school thanks to a small donation from Amina Khanum. However, not all of her fees have yet been paid and, if the family is unable to maintain these fees she will be forced to drop out.

Osman, 15, is still at home; missing out on his education until the relatively minor fees and immediate needs are met.

The eldest brother, Mahmoud, is currently in a wheelchair and requires care and medical support. 

Fatima, 8,  is also out of education at the moment with no opportunity to return  until immediate needs are met.

Mansour, the Middle brother, is hoping to restart his carpentry training with the aim of setting up a workshop in order to provide for his siblings in the long run. 


If the family is unable to raise enough money to see through the next 6 months, the children will be deprived of any chance at education.
This is not just a short term plea for aid. This is a genuine and hard working family trying to get back on their feet; but corruption, disease and poverty stand in their way.  By supporting them in the coming months, you can help them stand on their own two feet for the rest of their lives and have access to the basic right of education.

- School Fees, uniform and supplies for the children (£150 Each)
- Food, water, rent and survival costs (£360 p/m)
- Supplies to help Mansour and the family start their business upon his completion of his training in may. (£800)
