Save "Yes And," Hartford's Improv Pup

Donation protected
ANOTHER AWESOME UPDATE: We made our money so fast, Yes And has his surgery, and people are still willing to give-- so we have raised our goal to replenish a fund that donates money to future Hartford dogs & cats in need of emergency medical care upon their rescue. Yes And's costs remain at $2500, and we want to give Kenway's Cause (which would have paid for the surgery if their funds weren't drained) $1000 to fix the next pup that comes along. Thank you for everything so far and spread the word one last time!

Last Sunday night, the members of Sea Tea Improv were returning to our studio after a show and found a severely injured dog wandering Pratt Street. Despite being bone-thin and having a clearly shattered leg, this pup nuzzled up against anyone he could find. Eventually he took shelter in the delicious Tamarind Grill (he even knows a good meal when he sees one) and played gently with an adorable child until we called animal control to take him to a vet.

This sweet mutt found his way to an improv studio, where every day we teach the principle of "yes, and". What' "yes and" means: we can't predict what life will throw at us, but our best bet is to accept what we're given and build upon it. In that spirit, Sea Tea named the dog "Yes And" (you can call him Andy) and hoped that by turning him over to the city he'd go into their adoption system and find a great home.

Unfortunately, the city informed us today that they don't have funding to repair his shattered leg. Whether he was hit by a car or suffered abuse, the break is so bad that it will cost a $2100 surgery to put a plate in. Unless someone funds the surgery, the city will euthanize Andy. Other than his shattered leg, he is a healthy dog.

The members of Sea Tea are humbly asking you to donate as much or little as you wish to save our improv dog. For now, a member of Sea Tea Improv has volunteered to foster him until we can find him a loving, safe, permanent home. But first we want to fix up his leg and make sure that someday he can walk down Pratt Street in downtown Hartford again on four good legs. Yes, we scooped him up-- and now we want to give him a good and healthy life.

If you donate to Andy's surgery, we'll give you two free tickets to one of our award-winning improv shows. As a reward for being so generous with such a sad situation, we promise to make you laugh. The $2500 goal covers the surgery, neutering, shots, tests, adoption fees, and supplies to foster his for a few weeks. Should we go over our goal, we will pass on the extra funds to other Hartford animals in need. Sea Tea has never done a fundraiser of any kind before-- we're just a bunch of animal lovers who want to help this little guy.

And of course, if you know a great possible permanent home for him, please let us know.

Do we want to make this one dog's suffering a little shorter? Yes.. .and do we want to make Hartford a place where an injured animal can find respite? Yes... and is it a little bit magical for us that this dog wandered onto our path on the night of our anniversary show, right in front of our studio? Yes... and does saving one dog make a difference? Yes... and is it up to our community to step up and do that ourselves? Yes...

And so, let's all come together to give him a chance.

With love,

Sea Tea Improv

PS We'll go and visit him in the hospital after the surgery and put up great pictures when he's happier!
