Kandice Tant

For those of you who know Kandice, she is a hardworking, single mother of two. Kandice works two jobs and up until last month, has never had any health issues. On August 1st, Kandice began experiencing extreme dizziness. After several doctor examinations, their best guess was that she was suffering from severe vertigo and that it should clear up within a few days. Unfortunately, over the next few days the symptoms not only worsened but new symptoms also began to emerge. Kandice became unable to drive, work, and even stand at times. On Friday, August 18, Kandice had an episode in which she became very ill and lost consciousness. She was admitted into GHS where she stayed for a week. Although the doctors have been able to identify a tumor on her pituitary gland and severe hormonal imbalances, they are still unsure if this is the root cause of her illness or if they are unrelated as she has not shown any improvement and has not responded well to any of the treatments. Because of these issues she has been unable to work either of her two jobs for over a month now and her doctors have all advised her to refrain from working at least until October. She has officially run out of sick days and has no other means of supporting herself or her two children. Although her employers are working with her to see what avenues they can take to help, it is taking time. She is quickly running out of funds and really has no other options. Kandice is very proud and works very hard and would never ask for help, so I'm doing it for her. She is a fantastic friend and a wonderful mother who has really fallen on hard times through no fault of her own.
