Relief After Harvey

Hello everyone, we really appreciate you checking out our page. It is definitely not our style to ask for help, but these are extreme circumstances. We live in Houston, in the Westbury neighborhood, and we were prepared for a little flooding from Harvey, had our sandbags ready and everything.
At 2am my husband woke me saying water was coming into our house and the chaos to pick up important items started. We quickly took in 3 inches and the water continued to rise until it was above our knees and we had to figure out a solution for our dogs and ourselves. We called 911 several times to no avail and went to the back of our SUV to get the dogs out of the water.
A man passed after a couple hours in a paddle board and I was able to flag him down. He called for others in a canoe and they were able to rescue all of us! Once on dry land we received word that a friend of a friend lived nearby and we walked to his house. He has graciously allowed all of us to stay for the almost a week now, and we are eternally in his debt.
We began remediation yesterday, moving items that can be saved out of the house. A crew was able to come by and started tearing out walls/floors/etc. It was chaotic but we felt like a lot of good work was done. It looks like we will be out of the house for at least 3 months, so we are trying to find temporary housing.
There are many expenses involved in this process, of course unexpected. Any help, even small, would help to offset the expenses coming our way in the next few months. We are so blessed to be safe and that's what truly matters! We will rebuild and get back on our feet. We greatly appreciate all of you and have so much love for everyone. ❤️
