SAVE THE STRUCTURES FUND

       Hello, my name is Travis Vaughn, and I am with KR Construction. As contractors, we have seen the devastation that Hurricane Harvey has caused first hand. With waters still receeding from many neighborhoods, there are over 100,000 homes and homeowners that have been impacted in some way. We realize there are many fundraising efforts going on in the wake of Harvey, but we also know that there is much more that can be done. This fundraising effort is focused on getting funds for the many local, and even some out-of-state, contractors, who want to help demo the flooded homes before it is too late and mold has spread uncontrollably. There are many contractors out there who want to do their part, and are trying, but they do not have the personal resources to take on as many homes as they can. The major restoration companies are swamped and typically can't get to restoring a home for weeks, allowing more mold and devastation to occur. The companies who will receive funds from this campaign agree that they will not overcharge or try to benefit from them. They must also agree that for every two homes they have under contract, they must demo and dry one home free of charge.The funds must also go towards paying the employees or purchasing tools and drying equipment. Just one 1500sq ft home uses 15 to 25 air movers and at least 3 dehumidifiers to properly dry out before build back. That is an average of $8000 in drying equipment alone. Every piece of equipment bought will be accounted for and will be available for use by anyone wanting to help. I pray that our community never has to endure this again, but this will be very beneficial in the future if it does happen. We would be better prepared and better able to help our community. Please help us get more funds to them, so they can do their job and help the more unfortunate ones, who lost everything  and do not know how they will recover.
