Retired Deputy needs help
Donation protected
Harvey's devastation is taking it's toll on one of our retired deputies, Lisa Harris Phillips. Lisa retired from the San Diego Sheriff's Department several years back. I (Laura Shands, living in San Diego) worked patrol with Lisa out of the Santee Station. I consider her family as well as a friend, just as I would any other SDSD. Lisa was a funny, no nonsense kinda deputy. Lisa and her long time partner, TC Sparky, married last year and moved to rural Texas. Unfortunately Lisa lost TC Sparky to cancer last year. Now Lisa has been hit by devastation again and has been displaced from her home by Hurricane Harvey. When the storm hit, the water rose around her home and slowly made its way inside. By the time Lisa gathered her dogs and escaped to a safe haven at a friend's home in LA, her home was disappearing under water, see the posted photos. It will be quite a while before the water resides and she can return. Sadly when Lisa returns, she will find her home and lifelong possessions in ruins. Even with flood insurance, she has a long road ahead before she can recover from this. Lisa will have access to these funds for travel to/from her home as she rebuilds, repairing what can be and replacing what cannot, and all the mounting expenses, renewing electric , sewer and water services, to bring her back to a safe environment. Only Lisa will have access to the donations collected for her. She will use them as she needs them. Please consider donating what you can to help Lisa financially during this time of crisis. We all know her monthly county retirement isn't going to cover her expenses. This is the time her LE family and friends can make a difference for Lisa.
