In the middle of 2017, Lawren received that dreaded call we never want to receive. The doctor says, "Lawren, we have bad news. You have lung cancer that has spread to your bones, we need to schedule a surgery right away....
After a hip replacement surgery, several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and physical therapy, it's time for all of Lawren's friends to know what is going on.
This is somewhat late in the process as those of you who know Lawren well can attest, Lawren loves her job, her son, the outdoors, horse back riding, scuba diving and travelling to CARE conferences. She did not want people to know of her illness. So, she only told the people who needed to know and tried as much as possible to lead a normal life.
Lawren is now at the point where Chemotherapy is no longer working, she hasn't had use of her right arm or hand for nearly 3 months, yet just last week she was processing guest placements and completing a rental transaction for a customer. Now that's dedication. Her son Brian has been taking care of her night and day for the entire year. He has been a saint and her primary comfort during this long process.
Lawren is in the hospital now and she will not be attending the CARE conference to be with the people she loves and has worked with for over 10 years. She is in extreme pain and is not taking calls. I asked her how we could help, she said "it would help me so much if I could just get my housekeeper to come twice per week instead of once." Just the simple pleasures of life.
At this point, this campaign is to show how much we love Lawren. For sure, everyone will miss her at the conference. In lieu of flowers and/or gifts, if you could contribute a small amount to this campaign, it will help make Lawren's life a little bit easier.
