Support a Student Nurse

Full time casual. Part time student. Studying nursing has formed the centrepiece of my life for the last 6 years. I have a passion for people, a penchant for crises, and I LOVE learning.  Nursing has introduced me to so many wonderful people, teachers, and life changers. However it hasn't paid the bills. For the entirety of my degree I have been supporting myself through working in the hospitality industry; saving and budgeting to ensure I can take time off work to go on clinical placement, return to work, and repeat the cycle.  This year I started the year with the promise of it being my final year of study; the opportunity was almost here to enter the workforce and pursue my passion. The final hurdle was the 9 weeks of unpaid placement I had to navigate on a casual wage. The budget was tight, and then COVID-19 hit the hospitality industry like a cyclone. Placement had drained my financial cushion, and work had completely dried up.  I am trying to do everything I can to support our health care industry right now, learning from nurses on the front line, and helping them to prepare for the onslaught of the forthcoming pandemic. However clinical placement does not pay the bills, and the government has not been able to guarantee any form of financial support. Be it JobSeeker, JobKeeper, promises of emergency workforce positions; the reality is that none of these are going to hit my bank account before I run out of petrol, money, and any way to transport myself to placement and do my part. Anyone who is close to me knows that I don't like to call in favours. I don't like to ask for help. I pride myself on being largely self-sufficient. But times are desperate, and I need help. I can't make it on my own right now. So if you are fortunate enough to be able to help out, even as little as $5, please. And if you can't, share my story on the socials. I am just hopeful for enough money to make it to the end of the month. If by some miracle more money than this is donated, I will be using it to help out my hospitality and health worker friends. You all smashed the target to get resources into my pocket, let's so what we can do for others also in need. I have increased the target to $12,000.
