Kasia & Kyle Boulder, CO Disaster Fund

Donation protected
For those of you who don't know, Kyle and Kasia have had a devastating week. Their neighborhood in Boulder, CO was flooded in a biblical, unimaginable sense, and they were forced to hike out of the canyon where they lived in order to be rescued. Their car is trapped, and the bridges and roads that once allowed them to drive to town in minutes have been washed away. It may be months before they can go back home. For any of us that would be horrible, but Kyle and Kasia, as artists, had their studio and artwork at their home. So, they have also lost a big chunk of their livelihood.

Their Facebook posts copied below tell the story far better than I could:

Update September 12
"Just lost the bridge that cross the creek to our street. Further up ahead the road not toward town it looks like there was never a road. Kasia and I crossed a broken out gulch and had a hard time getting back. Flood waters rising, sand almost 2 feet deep and boulders that make you wonder how they made it to the road and where they came from. The destruction is crazy and surreal here. Hopefully we get a new bridge soon so we can go to town in the next month!"

Update September 16
"Kyle and I hiked out of our canyon ... Almost got crashed by a falling tree just to give you an idea of our day... just got rescued and are back in Boulder. Got to to register with FEMA. Our car is trapped in the canyon which is completely destroyed and today we were told that we may not be able to get back to live in our place till after winter because of the destruction they may not be able to rebuild in time and the rain keeps coming...We are doing okay and will stay positive and take it one step at a time. we rescued two dogs so we have something to feel good about! thank you for your thoughts and we will try to keep you all posted."

Having spoken to many of you, I know we want to help. Now seems like the time to show Kyle and Kasia how much their community cares about them.

Please give whatever you can. Every dollar will make a difference for them and help them through what will undoubtedly be a very difficult time. Let's help them replace their art supplies, so they can get back to doing what they love and what sustains them, and help them secure temporary transportation and housing.

All funds will go directly to Kyle and Kasia. Thanks for your support!
