CCELA (Care for Children's & Elders' Life Association) is a privately-run, not-for-profit organisation providing a quality, family-oriented home for orphaned children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and support for vulnerable and elderly members of the surrounding community.
Run under the Volunteer Directorship of Leeanne Reeves, we have one Orphanage Home in Addis Ababa, providing a loving, secure home for orphaned, abandoned and neglected children. We value education extremely highly as a necessary foundation for our children's long-term success and independence, and provide economic support for the school-aged children in our home to attend a private school.
Our Orphanage is currently home to 6 toddlers aged between 1 and 4 years of age, and 5 adolescent girls.
We have room for another 10 babies at CCELA but are restricted due to lack of funds, as it costs approximately US$600 per year for each baby just to meet basic needs.
Our Orphanage relies solely on donations from generous individuals and businesses.
Despite the recent Government decision to close international adoptions, CCELA remain committed to providing a secure, loving home to as many children as possible, whilst maintaining our high Western-standards for care provisions and home conditions.
In addition to our care for orphans, our organisation also extends to running a sponsorship program for vulnerable children, families and elders in the community, providing the necessary economic, medical and psychosocial support for them to live healthy, independent lives. We also facilitate skill training for Nannies working in both governmental and non-governmental orphanages.

Meet our school-aged girls:
Despite their young age these beautiful girls, Sinkua, Betty, Tizita, Fitzum and Rediet have endured more hardship than any person could imagine. Prior to coming to live with us at CCELA, the girls were orphaned and moved from orphanage to orphanage due to closures, never allowing them to experience any sense of security or love. Several of these girls were subjected to unspeakable trauma whilst at one of the previous orphanages.
They are now at their forever home, “Care for Children's and Elders' Life Association ” (CCELA). The girls are so appreciative of their lovely clean and safe environment. I think the highlight for them was their new bedroom, all new beds, mattresses, linen, room decor, storage and even new pyjamas! They showed their appreciation on my last visit, penning me a beautiful thankyou letter.
The girls were previously attending a public school, classes of 65 children, no resources and a teacher for crowd control. That is not “EDUCATION”.
CCELA now facilitates the girls getting the best educational opportunity possible and have enrolled them in a private school, where class sizes are significantly reduced to 25- 30 students, teachers are in the class to teach and appropriate educational resources are available.
