Life-Saving Treatment for Amal

Donation protected
Hello and Salaams,

(PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFO AT THE END ON DONATION METHOD)

my name is Kenza Umm Ammar and some of you may remember that I was and looking for suggestions about cancer treatment options for my sister-in-law. We have found an option and I am now turning to you to help cover part of the medical bill.

Please, read my appeal fully. Let me start by sharing you

THE BACKGROUND:

THE DIAGNOSIS

In 2015 she had been complaining about pain in her leg and after a few tests, we were shocked to receive the sad news that she was suffering from multiple myeloma, which is a type of bone marrow cancer.

THE WAITING LISTS

She started treatment in her home country, in Algeria and soon she had to be placed on a waiting list for stem cell transplant.
After over 12 months wait on the waiting list she developed a malignant tumour behind her left eye which doubles in size every month causing swelling in the head and severe pain.

With the tumour in the skull growing fast she now also needed an urgent radiotherapy to stop the rapid growth of the tumour. Sadly again she was told the waiting list would be over 6 months.

Her doctor has told her she could not afford to wait that long and suggested she goes abroad if she could afford. By this stage, she lost her sight in the left eye and the pain was unbearable. She had to stop working. We were with her and I do not think I have ever seen anybody who is so selfless, she did not ever complain and got up early morning doing whatever she could and making sure everyone is ok. Only sometimes she disappeared when she could not take the pain to make sure no one can see her suffering.

It was 2017, 2 years passed since the initial myeloma diagnosis and she received no news about the transplant. She had been waiting on 2 waiting lists, one for the radiotherapy and one for the transplant.

THE LIFE-SAVING TREATMENT

The family took the doctor`s advice and found a reputable hospital in Turkey, called the Anadolu Medical Centre. Everyone pulled together to cover the hospital bill.
Treatment started at the end of 2017 and so far she is responding very well alhamdulillah.

First, they treated the tumour in the skull, which has already shrunk.

Then they started the chemotherapy sessions. However, she eventually needed more sessions than expected to prepare for the transplant.

She is currently (spring 2018) undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant procedure.

THE DIFFICULTY

The extra treatment meant unexpected costs.

As a result, the family is now unable to pay the outstanding medical bill. About  £10 000.00 remains outstanding to cover the full bill. This is a huge amount especially for those in Algeria where all family members live except us.

(She has never asked anyone for money to fund her treatment and as far as I know, the eldest brother is managing the treatment and associated finances as she would most probably refuse treatment if she had been aware of the actual costs.)

This is when I thought of turning to you and hope you will be able to help.

HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

I am hoping that with YOUR generosity we will be able to make sure her treatment is paid fully.

We also accept offline donations, which will also be displayed here and count towards our goal. Contact me via this page or phone to arrange cash, bank transfer or PayPal donations.

WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL BE SPENT ON

Your donation will be spent strictly to contribute directly to the medical treatment. It will not be used for any associated costs e.g. ticket costs.

Someone asked me if I have medical documents to confirm this treatment and my husband already has one issued by the hospital. It is available to see upon requests.

This is a huge amount even in the UK but we may only need 100 kind people to donate £100 or 1000 to donate £10 or just many many to donate a few pounds it all adds up...

URGENCY

We need to raise funds as soon as possible.
A longer wait will mean great hardship for the family and most probably debts they can not afford.

PLANNED UPDATES

I really hope we can make this happen as soon as possible. I have been donating as much as possible from my business since we found out about the extra costs and I pledge to continue to do so until the target is reached.

May God send us help and provide us when we are in need.

I hope and pray her eyesight will return  (doctors are not sure) and most importantly that the transplant is successful.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

1. Most importantly I am asking you to make a short supplication right now as the effect of the sincere supplication is immense!

2. Even a pound makes a difference so do not underestimate your ability to help, you can also help by forwarding this page and share it on your Facebook timeline, or include in your WhatsApp and Instagram status.

You will be in my prayers and I am sure we will be in her prayers as well once she finds out... I can`t wait!
