Below is the devastating news of a good friends 2 year old boy,
I’m doing a ride from Carlisle to lands end and back in one run! Only stopping for fuel to raise as much money as possible to help this beautiful little boy
On March 7th stanley was diagnosed with T-CELL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He was very poorly and we didn’t know if he would survive the weekend. He did and we eventually got his leukaemia down to a level we could go to transplant with. On the 9th August we went in for his first transplant. Cells were slow coming in but we still thought he was ok. On 2nd October while we were still on the transplant unit we were told Stanley had relapsed and there was nothing more that could be done. Thankfully our consultant managed to get a trial drug on the basis of prolonging his life and keeping him well. Amazingly this worked and got his leukaemia down again. We were in talks to go to second transplant and on 20th December Stanley had his second transplant. Everything was great and we got home on the 7th February. He loved being home and we were just going to hospital every week and then every two weeks for routine check ups. It was on 8th June at one of these check ups we were given the devastating news his leukaemia had returned for a second time. He is currently on the trial drug again which he is responding well to but there are no other curative treatments in the UK. So to have any chance of saving Stanley we have to raise £500,000 to go to Singapore for CAR-T treatment for T-CELL ALL.
