Hello everyone! We are a group of high school students: Natasha Dhanrajani of New York (Junior), Tanya Dev of New Jersey (Freshman), Anay Gupta of Texas (Junior), and Shreya Vunnava of Texas (Senior). We are raising funds to purchase oxygen supplies and send them to India to those in need, as the country is experiencing a COVID-19 crisis.

Hospitals in India are experiencing a shortage of supplies of oxygen and other emergency aid as the country suffers a resurgence of COVID-19. India is reporting a record number of new cases every day, and the death toll is rising at an alarming rate.  Hospitals have reached capacity, and space for additional patients is limited. Families are being turned away, though they require immediate attention as supplies are lacking. As of April 24th, India recorded more than 330,000 new cases in a day, and the death toll was 2,200, which is a new high for the nation (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/23/world/asia/india-covid-oxygen-hospitals.html). The distribution of medical supplies such as oxygen concentrators will support efforts to prevent this tragic loss of life.

According to the Indian media, hospitals are running low on oxygen concentrators, oximeters, and other medical supplies. To put costs in perspective, a single oxygen concentrator can range between $800-$3000 inclusive of shipment. Oxygen concentrators extract oxygen from the air in the atmosphere, allowing oxygen to be provided in situations where oxygen supplies are limited.

In the interest of being transparent, the money will be managed by the parents of our Treasurer, Anay Gupta, as every member of the team is a minor.

Here is our plan as of now. We will be sure to let you know if anything changes:
We have partnered with a certified supplier for Oxygen Concentrators in the United States. We will bring the concentrators to a shipping facility we have partnered with. Customs in India are currently overwhelmed, so using our freight shipping contact will be more streamlined than commercial shipping. Once they have reached India, we are in touch with a distributor who will be able to distribute the concentrators to hospitals and communities in need.

We need YOUR help in raising the money needed to procure these oxygen supplies and ship them to India. Any amount of donation will be appreciated, as this is a medical emergency.  Updates and progress will be posted under the "Updates" forum of this GoFundMe page.
