Where to begin, well I am one of the daughters to an amazingly caring, strong women. She is the type of person you can always count on. She normally likes to stay behind the scenes perfecting details so everyone can enjoy themselves. She opens her heart to everyone around her. Rhonda is a loving mother to two daughters, and a Nanny(grandma) to 6 grandchildren and a beautiful wife to Jim. She enjoys spending her time making things beautiful. You can either find her in her garden, playing with rocks, crafting, or taking her grandchildren and hound dogs to the creek. My moms famous saying is "My door is always open". In fact, June 1st she opened her home to myself and my family of four. At the moment there are now 10 family members living in her home including my sister and her family of four. It has never mattered what kind of hard times the family goes through she always opens her arms and gives us a warm welcome.Just after we moved in and Nanny should be enjoying her summer and embracing the grandchildren, she noticed the lump and so it began. After numerous doctor appointments and testing it has been confirmed Nanny has been diagnosed with breast cancer. We are now looking at 6months of chemo treatment followed by surgery and radiation than hormone therapy. It seems like our world has came to a halt but at the same time everything is happening too fast to process.Recently we lost my grandmother (Rhonda's mom) to cancer, this was a very difficult loss for Nanny as grandma was on the other side of the country. She travelled out there to give loving support to her mom and watch this horrible disease take her mommy. Now it is her turn to fight. With all our love and support we will all fight this together, and we will win the battle. Rhonda is one of the strongest women I know, she is like the glue that holds everyone together. Super glue! After the doctors appointment where the doctor confirmed her diagnosis Rhonda went home that night, I am sure many thoughts were running through her mind but all she expressed at this time was how much she was concerned for the doctor who had to given her the bad news. That's just who Rhonda is, constantly concerned with the feeling of others. Rhonda does not come from a lot of money, and didn't have the easiest upbringing, but she does have an abundance of love in her heart and surrounding her.We are now looking at medical bills for treatment, as well as lose of wages as Rhonda has a very labour intensive job, she will most likely be absent. We have already noticed a decrease in energy as she is experiencing more pain, and the stress of the whole situation. On top of all this mom had to say goodbye to her baby brother earlier this year as he has passed away. She is definitely feeling the weight of all this stress. She has been going through the emotional roller coaster which I keep explaining is 100% completely normal. Testing completed- mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, blood work,Testing to be completed- CT, MRI, Bone Scan, PFT test, echocardiogram, We will continue to keep you updated and appreciate all your support.
