When life gives you Lyme, fight back.
Don protégé

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page. Coreena is a loved daughter, sister, cousin, and aunty in our big, sometimes dysfunctional and loud family. We want nothing more than for her to be able to live her life again and gain back the time that she has lost from Lyme Disease. We are all continuing to help Coreena battle, and anything you contribute will push us closer to giving Coreena a healthy life again.
Coreena's Story:
My name is Coreena and I’m a 28-year old paediatric nurse from Sydney. Four years ago I was working hard caring for sick kids after graduating from university, spending much of my free time travelling the world and living my best life.
I was full of ambition and spirit.
Everything changed after July 2014, following a tick bite in London while travelling. Within 12 months my health had deteriorated dramatically despite all my best efforts; suffering from continuous low-grade fevers, muscle twitching, insomnia, cognitive difficulties, stomach problems, depression and anxiety, memory loss, weight loss and chronic pain that was, and still is difficult to relieve.
The battle has well and truly continued over the past 4 years, as I have undertaken many of the different treatments available to me here in Australia. I have gone through many months of intravenous therapy, 3 years of antibiotics and anti-malarial drugs, as well as all forms of alternative therapies.
Although I made some gains along the journey, these have all been temporary and I continue to struggle daily with the challenges of Lyme disease.
All of you who know me well, know that I always try to maintain my positive outlook and get on with things as best as I can, no matter how awful I may be feeling physically or emotionally. However, the truth is there are days where I often lose sight of the light at the end of this deep dark tunnel and feel as though I will never escape this horrible illness.
I’m no longer making progress with treatments here in Australia, and my doctors have recommended hyperthermia and stem cell treatment in Germany as my last ditch effort to conquer Lyme.
The cost of ongoing treatment here in Australia, often not covered by Medicare or private health, leaves me significantly out of pocket each week. As I continue to be ill, I am only managing sporadic work hours, making the above costs difficult, and the much-needed hyperthermia treatment virtually impossible. Hyperthermia/stem cell treatment is very expensive, but I’m hoping this opportunity will finally help me get my life back.
Any help that any of you can provide would be so so so appreciated. If you can’t donate, there are other ways you can still help me by please sharing this page to friends to support my quest for health!
