Ashley's Medical Expenses

Spende geschützt
Dear Friends,

My name is Kayley. I am starting this page for my big sister, roommate, partner in crime, and best friend Ashley. Ashley is a Science teacher at Brady Middle School as well as the head Volleyball, head Softball, and JV basketball coach at Brady High School.

On September 24th Ashley was in class teaching. She suddenly felt pain in the chest and shortness of breath which earned her a trip in an ambulance from the school to the local ER. Come to find out she had a 30% Pneumothorax in her left lung. She was transported by ambulance to Shannon Hospital for higher level of care which is an hour away from home. She survived that with a few follow up visits, another ambulance ride, and one minor ER visit.

After that spell on September 24th she was able to return to normal life which included lots of basketball practice and games.  The first week of December the chest pain returned, but only 5% Pneumothorax in the Left lung and a small Pneumothorax in the right lung with word it could get worse. The morning of Christmas Eve things did get worse. Ashley was at home with our parents and thought she had a cold with a cough. Our Dad took her to 5Star ER due to the holiday where they found out she did not have a cold, but a severe Pneumothorax in the Left lung (her left lung completely collapsed 90+ %).  She was taken from 5Star ER where the chest tube was inserted and transported by ambulance to Covenant Medical Center. As days went by the left lung was making progress with the help of a chest tube, but on December 27th her Right Lung collapsed 90+% as well and a chest tube had to be inserted.  On December 30th, Ashley got the news she needed surgery, but the surgery could only be performed in Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center.  She tried to head to Dallas by ambulance, but the trip was unsuccessful due to shortness of breath.  She will now be flown to Dallas for Surgery by AirMed. She is expected to recover in the hospital for another week after surgery. She is having surgery January 2nd.

This whole experience has been terrifying with so many ups and downs. It has brought our family closer and made our faith stronger. I started this page to help with the financial burden on Ashley. We all want to see her back in the classroom and on the field with her teams.  I will keep this page updated as we know more.
