Joey's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
I don't even know where to start. I am Joey's baby sister April. I only say it like that because that's what he always calls me, even when.introducing me to people. Its like I can hear it now as I type it, and it is so hard to even think about because I want so bad to hear those words "you know you're my baby sister and you know I will always take care of you". But this isn't about me. This is about my brother Joey Mandela. I was asked to make a go fund me page from a co-worker of his, so they could donate to his medical bills and anything his family needed during this time. We have been blessed and loved through this journey so far and it makes me so proud and happy that so many people love and care about him. For those who don't know what is going on, I will give a brief overview. On August 1, Joey was in a very severe motorcycle wreck. He has severe head trauma which caused swelling on the brain. They inserted a tube into his skull to drain off fluid and monitor his intracranial pressure. He also has severe bruising on both lungs and a shattered ankle. He was placed on life support right away. When we arrived to the hospital they told us that they didn't expect him to make it. This was the worst news anyone could have imagined, but they don't know Joey. He is so strong and he is a fighter. He has been fighting for his life since that day. He has had ups and downs but he is still fighting. We honestly don't know what the outcome will be. We are taking it hour by hour. I know one thing, he will not give up fighting for his life so he can wake up and see his daughters Maddie and Hailey. He loves his girls more then anything and he loves his family more then anything. I wish I could give every detail of what is going on but it is so much. Right now Joey is stable, his ct scans show no real improvement but they also show nothing is worse. This is a good thing. We hope and pray that he just needs a little more time to relax his brain so he can wake up. I don't have the answers, but I do know I am there by his side day in and day out and I am his advocate. I want him to wake up. I want to hear his laugh and I know his girls want it just as much if not more. We have had so many great nurses and they have been patient with us. We want to knowbevery detail and they will make sure we know what is going on and always ask if we need anything. He is getting great care. He just has to fight a little more and wake up for us. Please say a prayer for Joey... And thank you to everyone who have supported us and have prayed for us. It has not gone unnoticed and we greatly appreciate it.
