Macee

On the morning of December 3rd, Macee was flown to Billings after a trip to the Sidney ER. In Sidney, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, but she had other unknown very serious issues. Once in Billings, they found that she had a large amount of fluid build up, and they decided to fly her to Salt Lake City on December 4th. Once in Salt Lake, they found that she was in liver and kidney failure and put on the transplant list. This was also when she was diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). HLH is a very serious, life-threatening immunodeficiency. It can potentially damage all major vital organs, and cause inflammation of the brain, which can then lead to a wide variety of neurologic problems.

Macee has been fighting for her life this past month. Upon arriving to Salt Lake and being diagnosed, she started responding well to the chemo used to treat the HLH. She was then able to move out of ICU and to the cancer unit. She has been having dialysis done daily for her failing kidneys, and her liver started to heal itself. Just as things started to look up with the possibility of being home for Christmas, a week later, things once again took a turn for the worse.  She got an infection and had to go back to ICU. After a couple of days in the ICU, her infection got worse and the HLH had spread to brain causing fluid to build up, and Macee to have seizures. Macee has now been in a coma since December 22nd and is currently undoergoing numerous tests and more MRI's to monitor her swelling.

Macee's mother, Aleshia, and her Grandparents Tim and Jolene have been by her side in Salt Lake City through this very difficult time. Please help out sweet Macee and her family if you are able. Aleshia has been unable to work during this time, and it seems there is still a very long road ahead.
