On the release of plans for an over development of an apartment block in our area, a group of residents banded together to object to council on the proposed construction that we consider will change the character of our area.

We are the Ringwood East Residents’ Action Group, a group of local residents and shop owners whom got together following notification that a 4 storey 20 apartment block was being constructed in our quiet leafy suburb of Ringwood East.

With the plans being rejected by local council the developer went to VCAT to push ahead with their plans.  With a further hearing before the courts on the 21-23 August. As such  we are in need of help from a qualified person.

To better our fight against this developer, we will need to engage the services of a planning advocate. In order for this to be achievable we need to raise approximately $6,500.

We are asking the support of you and our community to raise these much needed funds to ensure the values you treasure about your home and your community are heard by decision makers in the upcoming hearing.

If you live in Ringwood East this development impacts you. Please consider giving generously to support our plight to protect the future of your neighbourhood - the place you love.

To reach our target of $6,500, we need donations of $200 from 30 residents, or donations of $100 from 60 residents.

If you can help even by donating your morning coffee this will help us immensely. Any and all help is greatly appreciated with all funds raised going to this planning advocate to represent our community at VCAT.

It is important to note we are NOT experts in planning nor have any legal training regarding planning and development. We are simply a group of residents that have banded together to put a stop to the over development of our area. It is also important to note that we are NOT against development, rather, we are seeking development in line with the characteristics of the area.

On review of the plans to develop 1 Laurence Grove Ringwood East, as a group of residents, we believe this development should be revised for the following reasons:
- Loss of vegetation
- Insufficient setbacks
- Adverse impacts upon the character of the area
- Four storey built form too high for the area
- Loss of on street parking
- Impact on pedestrians due to additional traffic
- Poor integration with the existing streetscape
- Overdevelopment of the site
- Use of laneway for vehicles is not appropriate
- Overshadowing and loss of daylight to abutting properties
- Inappropriate visual bulk and mass, lack of articulation
- Noise impacts

These points formulate our argument to VCAT for the consideration to keep the plan rejected until the developer works in consultation with those directly affected by the construction.

We are a group of residents concerned for our neighbourhood for today and into the future and we are in need of your help to fight for our beloved neighbourhood.
