Megan Hensley's Hospital Bills

Megan flew to Reno Saturday to surprise everyone at family reunion. About 2 hours after arriving she developed an awful headache that just wouldn't go away. She flew home on Sunday, still not feeling any better. She went to the ER on early Tuesday morning and after a spinal tap showed positive signs of viral meningitis, she was admitted to the hospital for observation. She was on IV antiviral and pain meds for two days before the labs came back with the exact strain. She is now on an oral antiviral and is being discharged to go home.

Megan recently started a new job and had not yet had an opportunity to sign up insurance. That means the whole cost of this hospital stay and treatment is going to come out of pocket. She needs a $5000 deposit to leave the hospital today and is looking at a hospital bill possibly totaling more than $20,000.
