Martha Ibarra Fighting Lung Cancer

My name is Jose Ibarra and I am writing this on behalf of my family, for our mother Martha Ibarra. Our mother has always been a source of strength and the rock of our family. She has lived a selfless life, always giving of herself to those around her and whom she loved. She lovingly raised her 7 children as well as the many cousins and our family members. When our father became deathly ill and was paralyzed from the waist down, and bedridden she cared for him and nursed him back to health over the course of 6 years. Througout her life, she experienced many hardships, which have shaped her into the heart and strength of our family. That is why it is with heavy but hopeful hearts, we share her current life story with you. After a series of serious hospitalizations, severe pneumonia and overall poor and failing health, it was 2 years ago this month that our mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung Cancer. Having never smoked a cigarette in her life, we were all devastated and taken back by the diagnosis. We immediately began the recommended course of treatment and since then have tried several more, with none of them successful at slowing down the spread of the cancer through out the rest of her lungs. She is incredibly weak and sickly and running out of time and options. After the pain and discomfort of chemo treatments, and several other failed treatments we have exhausted all other options but the final; Immunotherapy. As a family and as devoted sons and daughters, we pledged to our mother that in the search for the right treatment for her we would leave no stone unturned and no course unexplored. Unfortunately, we have run into many obstacles, most of them being financial. Some treatments and medications are not covered by her insurance and have become a shared expense that we as a family willingly and gratefully give. That being said, things add up quickly and it has become difficult to pay for thses expenses as frequently as required. Our Mother will be starting a new treatment called Immunotherapy.
