Endurance for the Suffering
Tax deductible
When I signed up for an Ironman, it is safe to say I did not entirely know what the next several months would entail. The endless hours spent running, biking, and swimming began to feel like a selfish endeavor – that would only lead to some race swag to show for it (provided I made it to the end). While completing training sessions during the hottest months of the year, the thought of other’s suffering came to mind. I chose to be training for hours – they didn’t choose to be fighting cancer or watching their loved one fight. To help push me through miles on the road and in the pool/lake I prayed for them or thought about what I could do to make this endeavor a little more meaningful. I decided to try to raise some money for Cancer Research. Cancer – the ugly, non-discriminatory disease that has hit home again this summer. It will be those we have lost and those currently fighting that I will continue to think about to help get me to the finish line. So, say a prayer, donate some money, or run/bike/swim a mile to honor/remember those who are suffering or have suffered. Thank you and God Bless.
