Thank you to all those who helped support Jon and Tara during Tara's surgeries in 2015. A lot has happened since then! Tara and Jon welcomed their sweet baby girl, Elise Lynne Harvey, on June 16, 2017. Elise was born at 33 weeks by c-section out of health concerns for Tara. At 30 weeks Tara began experiencing hip pain that she associated with growing pains from baby girl. Unfortunately, the pain increased quickly over time to the point that Tara was unable to walk unassisted. Her OB decided to refer her to an orthopedic doctor. An MRI revealed that Tara had a large tumor in her left femur along with several smaller ones in her pelvis. On Monday, June 12, Tara was immediately hospitalized and put on bed rest. Concerns continued and it was decided to deliver Elise early. A quick 12 hours after Elise was born, Tara's femur snapped under the pressure of the tumor. She left her baby in the NICU and was flown by medical plane to MD Anderson in Houston. Her husband stayed behind in Tulsa to care for Elise. On Tuesday, June 21, Tara had a lengthy surgery to partially replace her left hip and remove the tumor. She has had a complicated hospital stay and is looking forward to coming home in time to bring her baby home from the NICU!They were so blessed by their friends and family before that we're hoping we can rally behind them again during this time of healing and recovery for both mommy and baby.
