I know life has it's ups and downs. But lately my family keeps getting hit by more downs than ups.
What You Need to Know:
My wife and I have been married for almost two years. Brittany brought into the marriage a wonderful girl named Ember who quickly became an amazing child that I proudly called my own.
Her biological father was rarely around, sometimes he would take her every weekend in a month, sometimes it would be no weekends in a month.
That changed about 7 months ago when he knocked up his girlfriend. Suddenly he tried to become dad of the year. We had support modified and he saw her on a regular basis. But things were still okay.
Then a little over a month ago we had the Department for Child Safety show up at our door with a list of allegations that the house was unfit to live in. All of which would within a month be declared unsubstantiated and the case closed, but on the day they arrived at our door Ember's father informed us he was going to file for a custody modification.
We went to the Pre-Trial Event a few days ago thinking that potentially we could represent ourselves, we quickly realized, that we cannot.
We do not make more money than her biological father, but we know with us is where she belongs. And so we need your help.
We have found a lawyer, and the full cost of everything he needs to get us to the trial and represented is 1600.00 and with the fees that GoFundMe charges I am asking for 1700.00.
We could get a co-signer (with good credit in this lousy economy) and make payments but I would rather pay him up front and be done with it.
Please help a family not be torn apart. She is 8 years old and just started 2nd Grade. Being taken away from her mom and her daddy (as that is what I am to her) is not what she needs.
