On Thursday, June 22nd at 5PM, the SMASH Board Chair, Sharice Taylor, passed away from a kidney related illness. SMASH is reaching out to the entire community that loved and admired Sharice for help in paying down her funeral expenses. Sharice leaves behind an accomplished legacy at SMASH.

Despite her deteriorating health, she consistently displayed a model of leadership to her family and neighbors affected by slumlord Abraham Vaknin in Liberty City. Because of her, SMASH is now on a path to successfully establishing a Community Land Trust with expedited housing to address the slumlord emergency that has kept her family and others living in detestable, dangerous and inhumane conditions.

Most importantly, she leaves behind her, mother, her siblings, 11 Children, 13 grand children and her partner Terrance Cash, who will all miss her life spirit, energy and compassion.
