Help our Mom fight cancer

Donation protected
Our loving mom Danielle who just turned 47, was recently diagnosed with a Klatskin Tumor, which is a rare cancer that is found in the bile ducts of the liver.
She is going to begin chemotherapy and radiation treatment in the near future, and as we scramble to navigate insurance shortfalls and possible clinical trials, We're hoping that her community can help to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with her healing process.

ABOUT OUR FAMILY
Nine years ago on September 14, 2008 our dad, Tim lost his own battle with Leukemia. My brother was 6 at the time and I was 4 years old. Since that day our mom has been raising us on her own. She has not only been a mom to us she has been our dad as well. Our mom is our rock there is nothing she can’t do. Despite everything she has endured since my Dad’s passing she is always willing to help others, has a contagious smile and personality and can do anything she takes on. As you can imagine we were all shocked and devastated when she received the cancer diagnosis. There were a lot of questions and wondering, of “why us?” “we already went through this once, isn’t that enough?” Our mom was just getting ready to start a new job when she was diagnosed, and unfortunately hasn’t been able to work since.

KLATSKIN TUMOR

This diagnosis took us all completely by surprise, and is extremely rare. Klatskin tumors are are a type of cholangiocarcinoma that begins in an area called the hilum, where the left and right bile ducts join and leave the liver. Symptoms usually don't present until advanced stages of disease, and most Klatskin tumors are diagnosed at an advanced stage. The best long-term results are achieved with surgical intervention. We were lucky and found a great Dr. and surgical team in Stanford California that were not afraid to take on the task of treating our mom. However, this meant that our mom was hospitalized 4-1/2 hours from our home for a little over a month. This also means that all of the costs incurred will be covered on our out of network side of the insurance and we have no idea right now how many thousands of dollars that is going to add up to be. Despite the time apart and costs we are very grateful that our mom was able to undergo a surgical procedure that removed 2/3rd of her liver as well as the Klatskin Tumor. However, it was discovered after surgery that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes which is why she will now have to undergo four months of chemotherapy followed by three months of radiation.

Every dollar donated would go towards her medical expenses - the outstanding hospital and doctor bills, the transportation and hotel costs that will accrue for follow up visits, chemotherapy and radiation appointments as well as any supplements or prescriptions she needs.

And it is with a full heart that me and my family thank you for your help, even the smallest donations will make the biggest impact to us and are appreciated more than words could ever say. We know that not everyone is in a position to give, so in advance, we thank everyone for their love, support, and positive thoughts! We also want to thank our closest friends and family that have been there not only for my mom but for my brother and myself! We appreciate all of your help, prayers and love that you have sent our way.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this note and to help my mom.
