Heart Transplant Needed

My name is Ken Swartz. I am 49 years old and my heart is worn out. I am at the top of the heart transplant list here in South Carolina, but my heart is so bad off that I have not been able to work in a long time. Heart transplants are expensive and I would really appreciate financial help. Two other things I would greatly appreciate are your prayers and for you to register or let your family know that you would like to become an organ donor. People pass away every day, but it is difficult for family members to make that decision at the last minute, and there are so many people who need transplants.

One thing that keeps me going is my beagle, named Benton. He knows when I am having a hard time and is always by my side. I will miss him when I am told to go for the transplant operation at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. I will be in the hospital for at least 10 days, and then at a nearby inn for 6 to 8 weeks, having regular checkups at the hospital before being able to go home.

Also I would like to invite those of you who are in the area near Columbia, SC on Saturday August 31 to come to a fundraiser some friends are having for me at The Loose Cockaboose at 936 S. Stadium rd., near Williams Brice Stadium, beginning at noon. There will be plenty of live music, a silent auction and lots of fun!
