Erich Smit Recovery Fund

As many friends and family are now aware, Erich has been recently diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis.  For those unaware, Ulcerative Colitis is an autoimmune disease that affects the innermost lining of the large intestine.  This is a chronic, life-long disease that requires ongoing treatment and while it has no known cure, treatment can greatly reduce signs and symptoms of the disease.  Fortunately there are treatment options, however, the ongoing treatment and medications quickly add up.   Due the recent extensive stay in the Emergency Room and the diagnostic testing that was recently completed, Erich and Kristin are already receiving medical bills and this is just the beginning. On top of the medical bills, Erich is unable to work while recovering, which means that Erich and Kristin are down to one income.   

On a very positive note, Erich and Kristin are expecting baby Smit this Fall.  Nothing will take away this exciting time for the family, however, the lingering stress of the medical bills is a daunting feeling that nobody should have to deal with, especially during this exciting time in both of their lives.  I have started this campaign because both Erich and Kristin are the type of people that figure things out on their own and don’t rely on others for help.  After much discussion, I have started this in hopes that a little contribution from friends, family, co-workers, strangers, etc. will help ease a little stress so that Erich can focus on his recovery before baby Smit arrives.   Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated so lets all come together and help these two out.
