The Trip of a Lifetime

My Uncle John is an amazing person. From the time he was little, he's been working hard to be a great father, brother, son, and citizen of the USA. He volunteered to go to war when his country needed him, and returned from Vietnam thankfully alive, and more intact than anyone could have hoped for. He went on to live his life, have two beautiful daughters and worked hard until the day he was diagnosed with cancer, for the first time.
My Uncle has fought valiantly against the cancer, every step of the way. First it was tonsil cancer that spread to his lymph nodes, and once that was beaten it came back in the lymph nodes of his chest and his right lung. Once again, he fought it off, but last year they found a brain tumor. The operation was successful, and there was no sight of the cancer returning. John married his fiancé in a beautiful backyard wedding in the spring of this year, and started on a new life together with dancing and smiles from everyone who attended.
2 days after Linda and John said "I do", they found out that the cancer was back. This time it was in the meninges, the lining of his brain and spinal column. They gave him 4-6 months to live, in May.
My brave Uncle is tired of fighting. His family, who has been with him every step of the way, is tired of seeing him in pain, even though he smiles through it.
It's time for him to enjoy the rest of his life, in the best way he could think of. My Grandmother Dorothy, the grand matriarch of our family, who is so full of love and spirit that she blinds people with it every time she smiles, has decided that John should get his wish.
This fundraiser is set up to fund John's trip around the United States of America, with his wife and his family by his side, documenting the last adventures of a man who proudly served his country, and now deserves a little relaxation and fun. John's three sisters and brother, his wife Linda, his two daughters and my Grandmother all want to accompany him on this trip, taking turns to be by his side, as he gets to see and do all the things he's wanted to do in the past decade but has been unable to because of the pain and financial toll the cancer has taken.
The funds will go toward an RV for the trip, a video camera to document everything they experience, food, camping permits, and any other needs that should arise.
Once the trip is over, we will put together a documentary about John and his life, a kind of video journal with his last thoughts put down for everyone to be able to see and learn from.
