September 24, 2016 was the best day of my life. I got Maverick from the Franklin County Animal Shelter when he was 7 months old. He is my emotional support animal and my best friend.
Maverick needs surgery. Maverick has been having severe knee pain. We had him x-rayed and had a "drawer test" done altogether costing $300. The results: Not only one, but TWO torn ACL’s. The surgeon estimated AT LEAST $5000 to repair both knees. He is only 2 years old, but you wouldn’t know that based on how he lives his daily life. He is a very calm and “tired” puppy. He cannot bear to go on long walks or to be up and moving for more than a few minutes. Can you imagine that? A two year old puppy not wanting to play? I was told that if I do not do the surgery, he will have arthritis in both knees by age four and will need daily and weekly medication to alliviate SOME, not all, of the pain and he will have a difficult time walking. He will never be completely happy if I do not do this. I want him to have the absolute best life ever and it just breaks my heart to watch him live in pain.
I know that to most people this seems like a silly amount to be spending on a dog, but he is not “just a dog” to me. We do everything together and go everywhere together. One way or another this surgery will need to happen and all I am asking is for some help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
