"Love for Laura" (ALS- aka: Lou Gehrigs)

We would like to introduce you to Laura. Laura is a devoted wife, mother of 3 beautiful kids, and simply a dear friend whom we love very much. We live in the small town of Celina, Texas which is north of Dallas. When we have a neighbor in need, we stick together and and do whatever it takes to help... which brings us to the creation of this page as our hearts are breaking for our friend.

Laura suffers from "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis" (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. Eventually, the ability of the brain to start and control voluntary movement is lost. There are very few resources for home care that are covered by insurance, therefore there are significant costs for medical care, home health care, and help for the family's daily living.

Laura has always been a stay at home mom since having her 3 kids. Although we realize we cannot care for her sweet children the way she has, Laura is now to the point that she requires in home care around the clock. As you know, this is incredibly expensive and insurance simply does not cover the majority of her living expenses and needs. Laura's husband Bruce works outside the home and picks up extra shifts to pay the bills, but it just is not enough. Medical expenses are overwhelming and continuing to climb so we felt the call to step in and help in the best way we can. We have seen amazing things happen through the "GoFundMe" program and we are hopeful this will prove equally successful for Laura and her family. This is a beautiful family and Laura has been their rock, but now she needs us and we are excited at the potential that this website offers.

We are seeking monetary donations to directly aid Laura and her family with living expenses, in home care, management of the home (cleaning, etc.), child care, medical, prescriptions, food, and pre/post hospice care. If you cannot help financially, we will sincerely appreciate your prayers.

In addition, our community is hosting a live Auction on September the 8th and all of the proceeds will benefit Laura and her family.
