Summer Youth Camp

Hello everyone my name is Reginald Peavy. I am a member of the United African Movement nearly since its inception in 1988. Debarred Attorney Alton H. Maddox and his recently deceased wife Leola Maddox were the leaders and founders of UAM. The two of them in their infinite wisdom saw the need to establish a Summer Camp named "Freedom Retreat For Boys And Girls." I volunteered my service yearly to support this endeavor. Unfortunately the camp closed in 2012, before closing it served our youth for more than 17 years, but more than that each and everyone of the children we cared for went on to successful adult lives. Realizing I wouldn't be able to reinstitute this camp to the same extent it was before closing. I would be able to take baby steps toward bringing back a necessary institution in our community. So I will start with my grandson Donavan 14, nephews David 14, Wiggy 27, Koby 17, Kojo 23, Georgina 23, Jovan 14 (In The Picture), Nas 11, Yoofi 14, Marouge 14, Ekow 14 There may be other young men in the community that may be able to join us, if our means are met. This mini camp will begin July 10th until July 17th. We will rent a van, when I say we, I'm speaking of my sweet n lovely wife Nellie Peavy. With the van we will set out with the young men to visit, the Stock Exchange, at Wall Street, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, a sit down with some of our esteemed Elders, Attorney Maddox and Dr. Jeffries. Dr. Colita Clark. This and many other adventures we will explore. Let me add here, not only will we visit the instutions mention, we will begin to incorporate them into their daily lives. Most of the young men named here will be traveling from afar, my wife and I has made the sacrifice to save money to ensure success. All expenses we've committed to, so I humbly ask of you any donations, would be greatly appreciated. We really want more than ever to carry on the legacy of our Queen Late Mother Leola Maddox, with hopes of including our young girls next summer and begin to bring back the Freedom Retreat in its original form. We hope to reach the goal of 2000.00 dollars. Your support will not go unnoticed, I along with the young men and women will keep you informed of all of our activities, via this "Go Fund Me" platform. We All Know How Important Our Children Are, can we take a small moment to show them how much we care.
