Safe Bed for Lucas

Most of you know Lucas, but for those who don't here is a quick overview about this love:
Lucas is an amazing little 3 year old boy with Down syndrome. He had heart surgery when he was 4 months old. The list of health complications began after that. He had seizures, sleep apnea, ear infections, GI issues including severe colitis, feeding tubes, and aspiration. He was in and out of Boston Childrens Hospital for the first 12 months of his life.
Lucas has amazingly pulled through many of these health issues without knowing he ever battled them! He currently still has feeding issues including aspirating which keeps him on thickened liquids. He has periods of choking far too many times for a mother or caregiver to have to go through.
One of his biggest daily challenges is behavior. He is a head banger when upset about something. He constantly is throwing himself backwards which has resulted in him needing a protective helmet at times for his safety. Our next challenge we will face is keeping him in a safe bed while sleeping. We have been very fortunate that he has not climbed out of his crib yet. But at 3 years old and with the fearless skills he has, that moment is coming any time!
I am trying to raise funds to go towards a "courtney bed" . This is a bed specially made for kids with disabilities, including Down syndrome, and behavioral issues. The only way to be without one of these beds would be to take everything out of Lucas' bedroom except for a single mattress on the floor. That is not a cozy and welcoming environment for any 3 year old to want to be in.
Any little bit can help to go towards this $3,800+ bed.
