Dakota-National Championship Duathlon

Dakota started 3 years ago competing in local duathlon/triathlon (run/bike/run or swim/bike/run) competitions and has been excelling each year. He was last year's overall winner of the local youth series. Last year he ended in 3rd in his age group (0-19) in the adult series and so far this year, he is in 2nd place in his age group.

In April, he qualified for the National Duathlon Championship being held in Arizona in October. This year's championship race is also a qualifier for the World Championship being held next year in Spain.

We want to give Dakota his shot in the National Championship in Arizona but need help financially to do that. This sport is definitely a sport that can cost a lot of money. We are asking friends and family to help us raise the money so we can make this happen for him. This is a chance in a lifetime for him. He would be able to meet elite athletes and learn many new things. Being at this young age, he will have a chance to really take this to another level.

Dakota has been doing yard work and helping out neighbors to earn money to put towards this event. He is not shy about working and knows this is a long road ahead for us financially.

We are looking at a breakdown of hotel of $300, gas for the drive of at least $2500, and money for food. You ask why we aren't flying? Tickets are around $1000/person and then we have to pay for luggage, bike travel, etc. so we are going to take vacation from work and drive it. We are working on making arrangements to find family/friends along the way who will allow us not only to stop and say hi, but stay a night and save on hotels.
