Slave Dwelling Project

For the past three years, the Slave Dwelling Project has brought much needed attention to extant slave dwellings throughout the Unitied States. After spending nights in 45 former slave dwellings in 12 states, including Connecticut and Pennsylvania, it is time to move the project to the next level. I am going through the process of obtaining a 501 c 3 non-profit status for the project which has a filing fee of $850.00. Once non-profit staus is obtained, more substantial funding can be raised for stabilizing buildings that are in immediate danger of collapse. Once stabilized, a long range plan for restoration, preventive maintenance and interpretation can be developed.
