Prince's Journey to Fight Retinoblastoma
Donation protected
On
July 18th, 2013 my beautiful 5 month old baby boy Prince was diagnosed with
Retinoblastoma in his right eye. Retinoblastoma is a rare eye cancer that
250-300 children are diagnosed with a year. I had never heard of Retinoblastoma
until I Googled it after noticing a weird glow in flash pictures I had taken of
him as well as a "cat eye" reflex his eye was giving when the light
hit it a certain way. Looking up "cat eye reflex in babys eye"
terrified me and I rushed him to our pediatrician Monday morning. After being
referred to a couple different doctors we were finally sent to Children's
Hospital Los Angeles where he was finally diagnosed. We also learned that it
had begun to seed so chemo would need to be started right away. He has a 50%
chance of saving his vision and 50% chance of needing his eye removed if he does
not respond to chemo. I am terrified for this journey he is about to start, not
knowing what may happen along the way. Most importantly I am terrified of not
being able to be there for him because I am the only income in our family at
this time. Although I am a very prideful person and do not like to ask for
help, my kids mean the world to me and there is nothing I wouldn't do for them
or try to do for them. That is why I am asking for donations so that the
thought and stress of making sure we are covered in the event Prince may need
to be taken for his treatment, follow ups in Los Angeles that we will need to
go once a month for, and any other emergencies that may arise will not be an
issue. I am also raising awareness for this terrible disease that many parent
do not know about. I have created a page for this and to also follow Prince's journey to fight this: https://www.facebook.com/PrincesJourneyToFightEyeCancer?ref=hl I am not sure what to expect or ask for so anything will help and go a long way.
Thank you everyone!
