Help Teen to Road to Recovery

***Elizabeth being discharged from St. Marys on the 4th of July in which she calls her "Independence Day".***

One year ago my daughter became ill - this illness was a progression from being a vibrant, energetic 16 year old young woman to bed ridden, constantly lying flat due to the extreme pain of sitting up caused her, having to be transported in a wheelchair due to not being able to walk because of the fall risk due to Syncope (passing out) and also developing Non-Epileptic Seizures.
After many months of struggeling to find answers, my mother and her relentless efforts of research to find the answers, found Dysautonomia and POTS. Elizabeths confirmation of this horrible illness was confirmed in March and since then she has been on a steady decline until we came here to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This is our miracle. This is the only place in the US that takes care of our children who have POTS and/or Chronic Pain.
We had only expected to be here for one week for evaluations and testing. On July 1st we found that we were going to be here for 6 weeks.
Elizabeth was able to be admitted into the PRC.( Pain Rehabilitation Center). She worked really hard in PT to be able to start this program on the 15th of July. On July 8th, she walked for the first time in 5 months. She chose to try and thru her determination to get well, she succeeded in starting the program 2 days early.
With the wonderful news came the unexpected expense. We are not able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House due to the PRC being such a huge program for teens that they would not have room for any other families.
We have found a beautiful house to stay in called the Nazarene Well House, it is a lovely place with access to laundry facilities and some meals are donated to the house, with pastries for a light contential breakfast in the mornings. The only downside to being here is that we now have to drive due to the location of the house to St. Mary's Hospital and the PRC.
We have had so many other unexpected expenses up till today; cabs, hotels, groceries (especially with Elizabeth's dairy restrictions), meals at the hospital and car rental for two weeks.
Our other expense will be coming home. We will be renting a car to travel home. She has had to have so many things from home brought up here for the program that driving will actually be the more economical route for us to take.
The break down of expenses that I truly need assistance with is our stay here , our rental car, food, travel home, hotels on the way home and possible medical expenses that will not be covered by her insurance.

This program is our answered prayer. Even as I write this Elizabeth has made such great improvements and the team is so incredibly impressed with her success so far. I got to walk with my daughter today. I got to see the protective helmet removed from her head as she has made great progress in having the "fall risk" removed as a part of her.

Any donation will be so greatfully appreciated. My family and I thank you for taking the time to read this. If you are not able to make a donation, please keep Elizabeth in your prayers. Though she is a huge success thus far, there will be difficult days that she will have to push on through and as her mother, I have to let her learn how to handle her new life.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly thru the link provided on the page.

Thank you,

Stephanie and Elizabeth
