Michael's 3 Minute Miracle

Donation protected
On Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 9:43 am my 22 year old spiritual son Michael Loftis died for 3 minutes!
He was running the Irving Half Marathon in Irving, TX with me. It was our 3rd race together and our 2nd half marathon. He started to slow down around mile 11. Which wasn't abnormal because he told me he might need to slow down at some point. He trained for this race but not as much as last years' half marathon. I finished the race, received my metal, and was looking for water. I walked a few steps and saw some commotion to my left. I could tell someone had collapsed and thought man that stinks...wait...that's Michael!! I jumped a little fence to see what was happening. Immediately there were two nurses from  Las Colinas Medical Center ‌  checking for a pulse. There was no pulse! They started performing CPR and quickly sent for an AED. I didn't know what to do so I started praying prayers "In Jesus Name" at the top of my lungs and talking to Michael off and on. The nurses obtained the AED. The next thing I saw was my spiritual son's lifeless body coming back to life after being dead for 3 minutes. Quickly we were in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The ER staff was amazing. They ran every test to figure out why a healthy 22 year old young man had a cardiac arrest. After they used a heart catheter they found out he has a rare congenital heart defect. It's called a coronary artery anomaly (CAA). His right coronary artery connects to his left side (instead of the right side) and is getting squished by his pulmonic valve from activities like exercise. There are less than 100 known cases of this defect. 20 have died from exercise. He was almost #21, BUT God has given him another chance at life through the help of Las Colinas Medical Center, Irving Fire EMTs, Irving Marathon leadership, and the hospital staff. Will you?

In the next few days Michael will undergo a rare open heart surgery. The medical bills are piling up. Michael is a nationally appointed US orphan care missionary, a college student, and soon to be married to the love of his life Brittany. His missionary work (www.keeporphans.org) is saving the lives of orphans. Let's join together to save his!!
