Jail Break!: rescue my car from OPD

greetings dear friends, family, and community,
i am writing to you because i really need your help right now. friday i woke up to find that early in the morning the Oakland Police Department put a boot on my car, and i have to pay $1,600 to free it from car jail.
as most of you know, i am a black, queer, gender queer, community-based healer/organizer/doula/dj. someone that has been working in our beloved local and national communities for over 20 years, since i was 16 years old and started running a children's play group at a domestic violence shelter. just as many of us do, i hustle on the daily to make ends meet, and find some sort of sustainability in this world doing work that i love and that helps my communities. so i am not in a financial position to pay the $1600 needed to free my car, and that's why i am reaching out to all of you to help me raise the money.
my car is an integral part of my life, my livelihood, and my community work. i use it to see my doula clients and get to births in the middle of the night, to get to my DJing gigs with equipment, to bring my massage table/chair to events, to do daily things that keep the Living Room Project running, to give other people safe rides to get to and from various places, and many other things.
it is not easy for me to ask for help especially in the form of money (thank you universe for the practice). i'm used to having to be the strong one for other folks, and taking care of my needs on my own. used to just figuring it out and making things happen, because that's what we do, especially as queer/trans people of color. just the way my mom did raising 5 kids basically on her own. this time i know that i can't do it on my own, i need your help.
so here i am, asking for your support to help me raise $1,600 in the next few days ( i have until tuesday before it is "officially" on the tow list, but you know how OPD is, fuckers!). anything helps, and if you can't give money, please still support by sharing this post and helping to spread the word.
