Get Busy Living Transplant Fundraiser

My husband just received a new kidney.  Throughout this 4 year journey he has never questioned God or felt sorry for himself.  We appreciate any support to help us with this next phase.  As Brian Moushon says.... a lot, "All in God's time".  We are thankful for your prayers and well wishes.

That's right and I GOT A KiDNEY AT UAB Hospital on April 7, 2020.
I am thankful for loving friends and family. A super talented medical staff that includes wonderful nurses, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, and a great bunch of surgical residence. Dr. Hanaway and Dr. Mattah who are both super skilled and talented above belief!!! The professionalism and science that goes into a transplant is incredible.

To my wife and daughter who have sat by my bedside willing me to live. They’ve never once complained and have been so super supportive.

To my donor David Powell, from Mahomet, he was in a tragic semi accident. He left behind a beautiful family of a wife and 2 children under 10. On Monday morning the 6th, I was contacted by the transplant coordinator, that we had a 100% perfect blind match. David Powell was a good friend of my brother-in-law Dr. JJ Jimenez. He made this direct donation possible that Sunday from Champaign to Birmingham, Al.
I’m so thankful for JJ’s care, humility, and friendship. I’ve known him now for 31 years!!!

I’ve learned some valuable life lessons from all of this:
1. Everything happens in God’s time.
2. You have more friends than you’ll ever know. When the time is right, they will be there for you.
3. Love and respect your life. It can be extinguished at any time.
4. Pain and agony can lead to some of the greatest joys in life!!!
5. Love your family and friends every day and don’t take them for granted.
6. You never know when your life will be saved by a perfect stranger.
