Reverend John Godfrey (Church of Ireland Rector of the Aughrim & Creagh Parish Unions) and Father Gerard Geraghty (Parish Priest of Aughrim and Kilconnell) are going to run 3 kilometers every day to pray for their parishes, throughout these Level 3 restrictions.
They invite you to sponsor them, as a way of fundraising for the local churches here. Parish finances have been hit hard by the enforced church closures this year, so we need your help to keep our local churches in good financial health.
Why not take up the 3K a Day to Pray challenge yourself, too? By promising to do 3K a day, to pray for your local church, you will be building up your own spiritual, mental and physical health. The sponsorship money you raise will help to keep the local churches running, in the difficult months ahead.
It doesn't matter if you run, walk, cycle, scooter, skip or swim. And if 3 kilometers is too much for you, why don't you share the load, e.g. by going for a 1km walk every day with two other members of your household.
All donations to this appeal will be shared equally amongst the six churches in the Church of Ireland parish: Ardrahan Church, Holy Trinity Church Aughrim, St Catherine's Church Ahascragh, St John's Church Ballinasloe, St Matthew's Church Clontuskert and Woodlawn Church.
There is a separate appeal for the Roman Catholic parish of Aughrim and Kilconnell.
If you are taking up the 3K a Day to Pray challenge yourselves, please get in touch to let us know how your are getting on. We will gladly send you prayer resources each day to help you.
