Help with Cadence's leg surgery
Donation protected
It hurts my heart to write this. My 8 month-old border collie mix puppy, Cadence, has been diagnosed with an angular limb deformity in her front left leg. This means that the growth plates in her ulna fused too early, while the radius continued to grow, causing her paw to deviate outwards and a significant limp to develop in her walking.
The surgery to correct this condition costs between $3000-4000, not including her initial eval, X-rays, surgical consultation fee, and any follow up costs after the surgery. Unfortunately, this is not something that can go untreated. Without surgical intervention, her deformity will continue to worsen, eventually leading to a complete inability to walk on the leg -- and causing extra strain on her remaining joints.
As a student about to begin physical therapy school, I am completely at a loss as to how to pay for this procedure with no income of my own and an immense amount of student loans to boot.
I never really believed the whole 'man's best friend' thing about dogs since the dogs my family had growing up never really bonded with me in particular. But 5 months ago when I got Cadence, everything changed. Cady is my best friend and she makes me strive to better myself every day so I can be half the person she thinks I am.
Please consider a donation to help us reach our goal so that Cady can have this surgery and get back to running and playing like her herding dog genes keep telling her to do.
Thanks,
Alicia & Cadence
