Help me evacuate my family out of Gaza

Hello! We are Liú and Alessandro and we are raising funds to support our dear friend Amal and her family. Amal is a passionate children's rights defender and we had the privilege to work with her in our humanitarian work in Gaza. This is her story:

"My name is Amal Abu Shawareb, I am a Palestinian woman and a mother of three boys, two of them are twins. My parents, like millions of Palestinians, have fled their home town in North Palestine due to the Israeli occupation in 1948. Consequently, they sought refuge in Gaza city, south of Palestine. I was born in Gaza where I have lived my entire life and did survive 4 brutal military offenses on Gaza of which the toughest is still going while the whole world is witnessing. I, like thousands of fellow citizens of Gaza, am currently suffering the displacement following the destruction of my house in Gaza by an Israeli air strike. My husband and I have worked ceaselessly for many many years to secure a house for our children, sadly, it was bombed and destroyed in a blink. We lost everything, savings, assets, our car, everything that we own has gone, we bitterly hold the sweet memories of our unjustly lost house and its corners and we continue to hope for a better future for our children.

We had to flee amidst the very harsh bombardments that have turned our neighborhood and the entire city into a huge rubble, we were forced to flee to no where in order to save our lives and left everything behind.

One of my children is diabetic (type 1), he needs insulin to stay alive, we have been struggling to secure insulin and to control his unstable blood sugar due to fear, stress and anxiety and also lack of good nutrition and shortage in Insulin and medication in Gaza. Everyday is a struggle and fear because at any time he can have a DKA, which means that he will need to be admitted into intensive care, which is impossible at the time being due to the collapsing health system in Gaza. I pray everyday that my child resists, however, the continuous readings of his blood sugar is increasingly alarming.

My three children had to endure the suffering of the occupation, trauma and anxiety since their day of birth, now and after witnessing the current atrocities against children, they lost hope in a better life, good education and peaceful environment. They have always been high achievers at school, Mohammed the diabetic, dreams to be a doctor, Adam wants to be an engineer and Amir wants to be a journalist. They are very much eager to pursue their education learn like every kid. As a parent, I am unable to secure this life for my children, it’s heartbreaking to experience this inability and helplessness as a mother, yet this is the reality that I am facing.

This is the first time I go online and ask for help, but I am obliged to do so, I want to take my family out of Gaza and secure treatment for my child. There is no safe zone for civilians in Gaza, we are under constant threat to lose each other and get killed mercilessly, at any moment, I can lose my family, at any time I can lose my children, at any time, I can lose my life.

Since the start of the war, I did not stop working to help support IDPs’ needs in Gaza and ensure that the most vulnerable get the support, but now I reached to the point where my very loved ones have become vulnerable and need assistance that I cannot provide unless supported by you, fellow humans.

I have not been able to get out of Gaza due to the closure of Rafah borders crossing between Egypt and Gaza in front of Palestinians passengers with exception to special exits that managed to obtain exit coordination. I tried all possible ways to obtain this coordination for medical reasons to evacuate my family but to no avail.

I am reaching out to all fellow humans, friends and Child Rights defenders all over the world to help me evacuate my diabetic child and my two severely traumatized children. Please help fund me to save my life and my children’s life. Kindly share as widely as possible. Thank you!"
