Kathy's Story
Donation protected
In 2017, my sister Kathy, was diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Her treatment plan this time is 5 months of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, then radiation. The prognosis is promising, but the treatment and financial battle is ongoing.
Kathy was first diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in June of 2006. Her treatment consisted of a lumpectomy in July, again in September, followed by radiation.
Her second diagnosis was in 2012, which resulted in a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
While it is rare anyone has breast cancer three times, we have been thankful that each time it has been caught early enough to treat. However, the financial side of this disease can be almost as devastating as the diagnosis itself. It is hard to discuss one without the other. Her health insurance costs and out of pocket medical expenses for 2017 alone were in excess of $31,000.00.
Please make a donation to help Kathy and her family during this time of need.
