Zachary Simms Debut Album

These words are a result of wrestling through difficult truths during my years in college and coming to a place of rest in who I am and who I will be. This music is the result of growing up in Nashville, TN around almost every genre of music and gleaning from all of it.

Since I was in my young teens I have desired to create something that brings the power of music and the power of words together in a way that the effect is greater than the sum of its parts. Because of my love for music I really have always had the desire to play as many instruments as possible. So over the years I've sought out opportunities to pick up drums, bass, guitar, and keys.

The music has its influences in rock and roll, folk, and blues, with the desire to create experimental yet memorable songs that make you want to listen back again and again. I don't want to be stuck in one style, as long as what comes out is authentic. This is my first real attempt at creating a relatively broad album musically that is still cohesive and all sounds like me. I have been able to give a lot of time and thought to these songs and I believe in them and what they can be. I hope you will too.

Playing all the instruments for the album comes partly out of practicality and partly out of the desire to see what I can create on my own. I will have trusted musicians helping me throughout the process and giving me perspective as I record this album so as not to get bogged down by it all. But for this first full-length album I wanted to try my hand at making these songs reflect what I've heard in my head for so long.

I want these songs to sound the best they can and have the opportunity to reach as many ears as possible. You can play a crucial role in making this album a reality. My desire is to be able to eventually create music as a full time occupation and take it out on the road.
