Please Help Me Get a Service Dog (TIME SENSITIVE)

Donation protected

Throughout the last 3 years, I have received several troubling diagnoses. I was diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). MCAS causes me to have allergic reactions to many foods such as gluten, dairy, eggs, and other foods high in histamine, extreme temperature changes, and odors such as smoke and perfume. I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). POTS increases my heart rate rapidly while I’m just standing or walking for too long. This causes me to faint. I was also diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). EDS is a connective tissue disorder that makes me hypermobile resulting in injury and chronic pain.

Theses diagnoses qualify as disabilities and it’s the reason I’m reaching out to ask for your help. I am raising money for a service dog.

Service dogs range between $20,000-$50,000. The path and program I’ll be working with will be $10,000. There are many different kinds of service dogs such as “seeing eye” dogs for blind people, but there are also dogs trained to accommodate my disabilities. A service dog could warn me when I am too close to an MCAS trigger, or they can alert me when my blood pressure changes from POTS, and elevate my legs to get blood flow back to my head, and retrieve things (like my medication) for me when I am unable to bend down or walk because of EDS.

I have been in contact with organizations that breed and train service dogs for people with disabilities. They are training dogs to accommodate people with my kinds of conditions.

I’m asking for your help. I will be meeting a perspective dog October 20th. Can I count on your help for a service dog? The goal is to raise $10,000 which will cover the service dog, 18 months of boarding and training, and service dog gear. Insurance unfortunately does not cover this.

Although I try my best to live an active lifestyle, because of my disabilities, I am limited in the number of hours I am able to work and I need to work as much as possible to pay for expenses such as rent and medical bills. A service dog can help me manage my symptoms and live the active lifestyle I wish to.

These are invisible disabilities, which means I may look okay on the outside while my body is struggling on the inside. While some days I feel good enough to go hiking, other days are spent in bed. Please visit my Instagram and TikTok @thattreehuggingspoonie for more information about my chronic illnesses!

I would appreciate any help you can give. Please also share this with your networks and reach out if you have any follow up questions. These contributions will help me manage my conditions and gain my independence back. Thank you!
