3D Printed Prothetics for Child Amputees

Hi, my name is Hassan Hatoum (@hassy.fitness on instagram) and I am beyond excited to tell you how YOU, me, Happyness Ave., and the Victoria Hand Project are going to provide 20 prosthetic limbs to child amputees in 8 countries across the world!

 

I am going to be racing in the Ironman 70.3 Calgary Triathlon on July 31, 2022, in support of the Happy Healthy Bodies campaign.

I decided to go big for my very first triathlon because raising funds for child amputees is no small feat.

I will be swimming 1.9km (1.2miles) in open water, biking 90km (56miles), and running a half marathon (21.1km / 13.1 miles) with minimal breaks in between. I believe that having a healthy and normally functioning body is one of the biggest blessings in life. The fact that we can run and jump and walk makes it so much more important that we spread the gift of movement and health to those who need it; like the child amputees in poverty-stricken countries.

 

I am teaming up with Happyness Ave. in the Happy Healthy Bodies campaign to provide underprivileged child amputees in developing countries with prosthetics using 3D printing technology, in collaboration with the Victoria Hand Project.

 

Happyness Ave. is a Canadian non-profit organization that provides underprivileged and vulnerable children with the resources and opportunities to cultivate a healthy future generation and encourage optimal cognitive and psychological development. They focus on large-scale issues that pose problems, trauma, or threats to the wellbeing and development of children and youth.

The Victoria Hand Project is an organization composed of several talented engineers, scientists, doctorates, and volunteers based out of the University of Victoria in BC, Canada. Their team has received several awards for their priceless work and 

 

Each prosthetic costs about $300 USD ($390 CAD) and all proceeds will go directly towards achieving this campaign's initiative and providing prosthetics to children in need.

 

Recipient Countries: Kenya, Nepal, Egypt, Uganda, Haiti, Guatemala, Ecuador, Cambodia.
