This is Christopher Brown. Christopher is a smart, kind, funny, loving eight-year-old, who loves to spend time with his family, play Fortnite, and ride his bike.
On June 18, 2019, Christopher and his family’s world changed forever. On that day, this sweet little boy was diagnosed with a rare inoperable brain stem tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
DIPG is a devastating disease. The tumor grows in the Pons, a part of the brain stem responsible for functions such as breathing, swallowing, facial muscle movement, and more. There is no cure; the average survival rate for children diagnosed with DIPG is 9-12 months.
Despite this grim prognosis, Christopher and his family are fighting this disease with all that they have! Christopher spent his summer undergoing radiation treatment as well as physical and occupational therapy, and is making progress. Family and friends are praying daily for a miracle. Now that radiation is complete the family is researching clinical trials across the country with the hope that one of them can help Christopher.
The family has been humbled by the response from friends, family, and even complete strangers who are praying for Christopher. They feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful support system!
Many of you have asked how you can help. The family is first and foremost incredibly grateful for your continued prayers for God’s complete healing of Christopher, and have faith that the Lord is working in his favor!
