Three Cord Monty

My name is Christopher Bryant (working name Christopher Bangs) and I used to be a lighting designer. Today, half of my body is paralyzed due to medical malpractice. In between, i died twice.

                
On September 9th, 2011 while on a European tour as a lighting designer, one morning while preparing for load in, I slipped and hit my neck. It did momentarily knock me out but i was just trying to keep going. Shortly after load in, i was taken to hospital.

At the hospital, i was kept lying around for several hours after which I received a cursory evaluation with x-rays and a cat scan but I was released with the diagnosis of supposed severed nerves. Had I received an MRI followed by administration of a simple anticoagulant, they would have saved me from the stroke which changed my life.

That was negligence that no one took responsibility for. Since that day, I have not stopped claiming justice for my case.

On my return to America, my function was deteriorating. I died twice in the hospital and woke up paralyzed. I was scared, confused and in denial of what had happened to me.

I left the hospital some weeks later in a wheel chair. A mode of transport I was told that I would stay in for the remainder of my life.

On my own, and assuming all costs, I went from wheel chair to walker, to cane in a matter of months and developed my own curriculum involving metronome therapy, hydrotherapy and F.E.S. (Functional Electrical Therapy). I had lost all learned stimuli in the cells of my brain controlling the left side of my body but i am still fighting!


Over the last six years, my search for appropriate treatment and justice through the European courts has been devastating for me. However, i am determined to rebuild my body function and to seek compensation for my losses.

After many years of research I have finally found a treatment that can restore my function and enable me to work again and live a healthy rewarding life. However, I won´t be able to get this treatment without help.


The ongoing search for justice, added to the very high cost of the treatment,have placed me in a very complicated situation. I do not have medical insurance, I have not been able to work for years and I am living with the help of friends.

That is why I decided to launch this campaign in GoFundMe. I believe in the nobility of the of the human being, demonstarted by all the friends that have helped me through all the years of suffering. I now trust that, with some more help from all of you, I will be able to recover my life again and look forward to the future.

It is my pledge that any money donated to me so that I can fight for my life back, I will in turn, match and donate that figure to MusicCares. I will do this when I have received justice and compensation under EU law so that this wonderful charity can continue to work with people in the music industry that have fallen on hard times.
