John Stroup Fund

My name is Lacey and I'm setting this Go Fund Me page up for my brother-in-law John Stroup who is currently in the ICU at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO. He is hospitalized with an infection in the brain, caused by a sinus infection.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
John had been suffering from a sinus infection for approximately 6 weeks. He went to the doctor multiple times and was put on antibiotics. The antibiotics weren't helping and went to the ER after waking up with his face red and swollen. The ER told him he had polyps in his sinus cavity and told him to schedule an appointment with an ENT. The following night, John woke up vomiting and had chills so he went back to the ER. This time they keep him all day and were going to do the sinus surgery that afternoon. But, john started acting strange. He stopped being able to communicate verbally and couldnt recognize his family. They scheduled an MRI. The MRI showed that the infection had went into his brain and created an abscess on his brain. Emergency brain surgery was the only answer. The surgeon came out and told us that his brain did not look good. There was swelling and bleeding on the brain and they had to leave part of his skull off to accommodate the swelling. At that point they werent concerned with brain damage, they were just hoping for survival. He is in a medically induced coma. They continue to monitor the swelling and bleeding on his brain and we hope for good news daily.

He's only 37 years old and has been married to my sister for almost 8 years. They have 5 kids between the two of them and he is their only source of income. I created this page in hopes that it would help with the financial burden, as they are expecting him to be there for a while.
